Chancery Lane Tuesday Afternoon

American Wigeons
I spent a few short minutes at Chancery Lane on Tuesday afternoon, it was my first visit since January 2nd. The water level in the swamp is falling rapidly and without rain, it will be dry by the end of next month. A few birds were still present including rare ones like Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea) and Northern Shoveler (Spatula clypeata). The number of American Wigeons (Mareca americana) increased from two to four but there was a noticeable decline in the number of Blue-winged Tern (Ardea cinerea). This does not look like it is going to be one of those years when Chancery has water into late May but I will still continue to monitor and share with you.

Here are a few images for that outing.
