Pied-billed Grebe (Podilymbus podiceps)

length:12–15" (31–38 cm); Habitat:Fresh water,deep ponds with vegetation; Statue:Resident Breeder, Local to uncommon.

Small, greyish-brown duck like diving birds, strong coned shaped bill, short tail with white undertail, underparts reddish- brown, black feet set to the rear of the underparts


Non-breeding/Immature: White throat, greyish bill 
Breeding: bright eye-ring, whitish bill with a black band near the tip
Juvenile: stripped pattern on head
Juvenile:reddish bill and crown
Male and female look alike (monomorphic) , chicks
