Bird #73: Common Greenshank





Common Name: Common Greenshank


Scientific Name: Tringa nebularia


Description: 12.5 inches; bill slightly upturn with a thick base; V shape visible above rump in flight; underparts whitish; upperparts greyish brown; flecked. Non-Breeding: Legs greenish yellow. Breeding: Streaked on neck and head.


Habitat: Mud Flaps


Statue: Vagrant; breeds in parts of Europe and winters in Africa
