Common Name: Masked Duck
Scientific Name: Nomonyx dominicus
Description: 12-14 inches; dull brown with black markings; two black
horizontal stripes running one through the eyes and other the cheeks, black
crown; stiff tail; white wing patch can be seen when in flight;
Breeding Males: rusty color plumage with black markings; black face mask;
Habitat: Shallow ponds with vegetation.
The Mask Duck have recorded with young here as proof of them breeding here. The pictures below were taken at the Bayfield Pond in the Parish of St Philip where about five or more birds can be seen.
